| Dr. Gerald
G. Edds, the owner and medical director of the Aesthetic Surgery
Center, is a native of Western Kentucky and has practiced
in Owensboro since 1982. Dr. Edds attended Western Kentucky
University in Bowling Green, where he received a Bachelor
of Science Degree in 1970 with majors in Biology and Chemistry.
He received a Master of Science degree in Biology from Western
Kentucky University in 1972. Dr. Edds received his Doctor
of Medicine Degree from the University of Louisville School
of Medicine in 1976. From 1976 -- 1978, he completed his post-graduate
internship and general surgery training at the University
of Louisville affiliated hospitals. ln 1981, Dr. Edds completed
specialty training in head & neck surgery at the Medical
University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Edds developed a strong interest in plastic surgery. Following
the completion of his head & neck surgery training, Dr.
Edds did a subspecialty fellowship with the American Academy
of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Tampa, Florida,
which he completed in 1982.
Dr. Edds is Board Certified by three certifying
boards - The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American
Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the
American Board of Otolaryngology.
In addition to performing surgery at his
fully accredited office-based surgery center, Dr. Edds has
full privileges to perform cosmetic surgery (including facial,
breast, liposuction and abdominoplasty procedures) at Owensboro
Mercy Health Systems, a 400 bed regional referral hospital
as well the Owensboro Surgery Center. He is a member of the Kentucky
Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Edds completes several advanced continuing medical education
courses and seminars each year. He also holds an appointment
of clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery
at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
Dr. Edds currently serves on the Board of
Directors for the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory
Health Care and has recently been elected President.
The AAAHC is responsible for the accreditation of over 1,600
surgery centers and outpatient healthcare facilities in the
United States and Canada. He has also functioned as a surveyor
for the AAAHC and traveled about the country to inspect facilities
for national accreditation.
Dr. Edds is a member of the of the National
Domestic Violence Project and has donated his time and expertise
on multiple occasions to victims of domestic violence.
Dr. Edds is married and has four children.
His hobbies are hunting and fly-fishing. Having a major interest
in aviation, Dr. Edds is an instrument rated multi-engine
pilot and has flown for over thirty years.
