CERTIFICATIONS: Dr. Gerald Edds is Board Certified by three surgical boards, including certification in breast, body and facial cosmetic surgery by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He is also certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology.  Dr. Edds chose to continue his cosmetic surgery training by completing a fellowship following his full surgical residency.

Dr. Edds feels that his years of training along with an eye for the “art” of cosmetic surgery have allowed him to succeed in this field.

EXPERIENCE: Dr. Edds has over twenty-five years experience performing cosmetic breast surgery, liposuction and facial cosmetic surgery and has performed several thousand of these procedures. He has also had the opportunity to train and perform surgery with several leaders in the fields of cosmetic and plastic surgery. Dr. Edds has performed over three thousand breast augmentation procedures and has lectured to multiple audiences on cosmetic breast surgery.

ACADEMIC APPOINTMENTS: Dr. Edds holds an appointment of Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine – Department of Surgery. Each year Dr. Edds trains several residents from the University of Kentucky in cosmetic surgery.

EDUCATOR: Dr. Edds is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) and is a Board Examiner for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Edds is the Director of an AACS Accredited Fellowship Program in General Cosmetic Surgery and trains surgeons in body, breast, extremity and facial cosmetic surgery.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ACTVITIES: Dr. Edds has worked for many years in improving the quality of ambulatory care in the United States. From 1995 – 2005 he served on the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, the largest accreditor of ambulatory health care in the country, currently accrediting over forty-five hundred surgery centers and health care organizations.

From 2003 to 2005, he was President of the Board of Directors for the AAAHC. Dr. Edds continues to travel about the country to inspect surgery centers for accreditation and teach on topics related to quality improvement.

PHILANTHROPY: Dr. Edds is a member of the National Domestic Violence Project and has donated his time in an expertise on multiple occasions to victims of domestic violence.

SURGICAL PRIVILEGES: Dr. Edds has full-privileges in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Owensboro Medical Health System – a 400-bed tertiary referral hospital, as well at the Owensboro Surgery Center.

AACS Members on a Mission – Dr. Edds Surgical Mission in Columbia

Dr-Edds-in-Surge-300x155Dr. Edds, Steven Edds, and Dr. Young Kim (our office anesthesiologist) recently traveled to Columbia to participate in a cooperative surgical mission – the first burn specific mission to visit the city of Santa Marta.

More than 100 surgical procedures were performed to treat burn injuries and deformities in 34 patients.
